We’re looking forward to a summit put together by FWC Chairman Kenneth Wright to be held in Tampa this September to review the sketchy practices surrounding jig fishing for Tarpon in Boca Grande Pass and the PTTS. This little meet and greet will be filled with heavy hitters from the Boca Grande Guide association, The Bonefish Tarpon Trust, and The State of Florida to get information about the damaging and fatal practice of jigging employed by the unskilled tower boat neandertals who fish the “Professional” Tarpon Tournament Series.
Various groups have been speaking out against jigging and the extremely unethical practices found commonplace at the PTTS tournaments and we are all glad to see that the hard work paid off.
Old Kenny Wright looks like the type of dude that could make some huge changes for us as recreational anglers, and we wish him well. He plans to deal with the resurgence of the now protected Goliath Grouper, right after the awkward silence following the PTTS guys crying in public.
Here’s a link to an interview with the man himself.
