Saturday, September, 15th, Justin “Derp” Johnson, my wife Shannon and I headed out to Cedar Key to try to catch a few fish. High tide was at 2:05 pm, and the Gator game was at 6 pm, so I didn’t think I would have enough time to fish both the incoming and outgoing tides and make it back to Gainesville in time to clean the boat, any fish we might catch and catch kickoff. Last Saturday, August 11th, I took “The Captain” Don Scoates and Steve Bush out to Cedar Key for a fishing outing. I hadn’t had my boat in the water in about 2 months due to engine troubles. I don’t know whats worse for a motor, salt water or gas with ethanol. I found a gentleman that cleaned the carbs, the fuel lines and put new gas in it for a C-Note. I picked it up on Wednesday and was itching to test her out in Cedar Key the following Saturday, which we did. Read more..

We’re looking forward to a summit put together by FWC Chairman Kenneth Wright to be held in Tampa this September to review the sketchy practices surrounding jig fishing for Tarpon in Boca Grande Pass and the PTTS. This little meet and greet will be filled with heavy hitters from the Boca Grande Guide association, The Bonefish Tarpon Trust, and The State of Florida to get information about the damaging and fatal practice of jigging employed by the unskilled tower boat neandertals who fish the “Professional” Tarpon Tournament Series.

Friday I got a call from Zak asking me if I wanted to go grouper digging with him on Sunday, July 29th. I had never been grouper fishing before, so I was excited about the invite and immediately accepted his offer. He said to meet him over at his house at 5 am and we would head to Cedar Key.
